Innovation capacity seen key to national success

Article Abstract:

Prospects for achieving better economy appears promising for the US, as the country continues to benefit from expansive technological innovation. According to a recent study conducted by the Council on Competitiveness, capitalizing on its technological edge would enable the government to see considerable economic gains in the future. However, the study also stressed that despite such bright outlook, investments for technological projects have significantly decreased since the early 1970s. In fact, the country's innovation index remained stagnant for the 1st half of 1999, reflecting its inability to renew historical assets.

Innovation management in the 7th 'Great Epoch.'

Article Abstract:

Three normally independent phenomena are confluencing and are creating political, economic and social havoc that, in turn, is enhancing corporate management problems. First is the last stage of the 50-year Kondratieff economic cycles. Second is the abrupt decline of product and process life cycles from decades to only a few years. Third is the erosion of financial and economic sovereignty of the nation-state system. Chronological events point to the start of a new economic order which will require the adoption of new skills and disciplines and the abandonment of previously successful corporate strategies.
