Iran to get record polyethylene plant

Article Abstract:

Marun Petrochemical Co, a subsidiary of the National Petrochemical Co, has commissioned the services of Krupp Uhde GmbH of Dortmund, Germany, for the construction of a 300,000-metric-ton/year high-density polyethylene plant. The facility, valued at about 200 million Deutsche marks, will be built at Marun's complex in Bandar Imam on the Persian Gulf, and is expected to be completed by 2003.

Boiling reactor boosts efficiency of direct chlorination technology

Article Abstract:

Uhde GmbH is to install a boiling reactor designed by it for ethylene dichloride production process developed by Vinnolit GmbH. The installation of the boiler forms part of a contract awarded to Uhde by Limburgse Vinyl Maatschappij of Belgium. The mechanism, features and efficacy of the boiler are discussed.

Cultivating 1,4-dioxane-loving bacteria for remediation

Article Abstract:

Massachusetts based Innovative Engineering Solutions, Inc. and Bioremediation Consulting, Inc. have developed a bioremediation method, which destroys 1,4-dioxane in situ. 1,4-dioxane is a groundwater contaminant that is also used as a solvent stabilizer. The relevant reaction process is explained in brief.
