Managing human resources for innovation and creativity

Article Abstract:

A four-pronged human resource management strategy pursued by successful companies is outlined. The strategy has four dimensions, namely, human resource planning, performance appraisal, reward systems and career management. The strategy is cognizant of the fact that people, not products, are the major assets of a company. Innovative leaders such as Motorola, 3M, Du Pont, Merck, Raychem, Johnson & Johnson, Hewlett-Packard and Rubbermaid are some of the companies that have utilized effective human resource management to gain a competitive edge.
