A new role for catecholamines: ontogenesis

Article Abstract:

Studies on chordate and arthropod development show that catecholamines play a significant role in ontogenesis. Catecholamines are synthesized from the amino acid tyrosine in the presence of tyrosine hydroxylase, whose presence in cells signifies possible biosynthesis of catecholamines. This substance has been found in developing neuronal cells of the embryos of chicks, fruit-fly, rats, mice and humans, suggesting that catecholamines also act as morphogens in developing embryos.

The effects of negative affectivity, hierarchical status, and self-determination on workplace victimization

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to examine workplace victimization and the situations under which victims become the targets of their co-employees' aggressive behavior. Employees of a public utility participated in two surveys which were part of an organizational assessment of workplace victimization. Results demonstrate that negative affectivity and low self-determination lead to workplace victimization.
