Melting key to fast structures

Article Abstract:

Selective Laser Melting (SLM) is enabling the manufacture of dense metal parts of great intricacy and complexity out of stainless steel, titanium and other difficult to work with materials. SLM is a technique invented and pioneered in the Engineering Department of the University of Liverpool and it is based on heating layers of metal powder with a laser beam but at sufficient temperatures to fully melt the powder particles.
