Mix or match: choose the best mixers every time

Article Abstract:

Choosing the right mixers is important in ensuring product quality and consistency, while helping reduce production costs. Mixing may include various process functions such as blending liquids and creating fluid motion, dispersing solids into liquids, dissolving gasses in liquids, emulsifying immiscible liquids and disintegrating suspended solids and agglomerates. Among the types of mixers are agitators, sawtooth-blade mixers, closed-rotor mixers, rotor-stator mixers, in-line mixers and static in-line mixers as well as in-line propeller or turbine mixers, colloid mixers and pressure homogenizers.

How to select rotor-stator mixers

Article Abstract:

A rotor-stator mixer is characterized by a high-speed, high-hear mixing head and is used in applications for fast disintegration, dispersion, solubilization, emulsification nd homogenization. The rotor-stator mixer, which is one of th most versatile and cost-efficient mixer, can be used as stand-alone unit and can combined with other agitators, such as low-speed, anchor-impeller versions and high-speed dispersers. Rotor-stators aim to shorten mix cycles and make multi-agitators much more versatile on the process line.

Impelling mixers to move viscous fluids

Article Abstract:

The use of mixers with bigger-diameter impellers, more powerful pumping force but with slower operating speeds will ensure that thick fluids are dispersed and discharged evenly. This is especially useful to food manufacturers who have to use thickeners and gums. Chemical processors who have to remove excess water to cut shipping costs will also benefit from the use of this mixers. J.M. Voith AG and ProQuip are among the manufacturers of this kind of mixers.
