Monitor measures smokestack emissions in real time

Article Abstract:

A new smokestack emissions detector has been developed by researchers at the Plasma Science and Fusion Center of Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The device, called the R-Tic (real time calibration) Metals Emission Monitor, can detect and measure emissions containing lead, chromium and arsenic from incinerators, electric power plants and manufacturing plants. R-Tic can be calibrated in real time even when the device is in use.

Consortium aims to develop cleaner-coal processes for India

Article Abstract:

An alliance led by the Center for Advanced Separation Technologies (CAST) at Virginia Polytechnic Institute is currently developing advanced coal-cleaning technologies that aim to help India in reducing its carbon dioxide emissions and in increasing its energy production. The details of the project are also presented.
