Opryland Hotel says 'Howdy!' to duct liners for quiet and comfort

Article Abstract:

Opryland Hotel and Convention Center in Nashville, TN renovated its facilities and mechanical systems, to reduce ambient noise and improve temperaeture control. The requirements were fulfilled by reducing the size of the air ducts, which decreased noise from air turbulence, and by installing high-density duct liner in the ducts between the air handlers and the facility's 55,000-sq-ft Delta Ballroom. As for temperature control improvement, the facility used lining supply ducts and plenums; building insulation featuring a poly vapor retarder, installed in 988 new guestrooms; as well as duct liner for controlling condensation problems.

Honing in on humidification

Article Abstract:

It is important for the high-limit control sensor of typical humidifiers to be located far away from the undispersed humidifier discharge. This will prevent the sensor from prematurely limiting the humidifier, a situation that could start a cycle of fluctuating humidity. It is important for a project engineer to require an evaluation of a humidifer equipment from a selected vendor in order to accurately determine the correct dispersion distance.
