Ownership transfer considerations

Article Abstract:

Upon completion of projects, engineers should practice the methods of the smooth transfer of ownership interests between parties concerned. Given the diverse nature of the various engineering fields and their form of ownership, it is advised that different methods be used, such as buybacks or buyouts and stock sales. Other internal and external transition techniques are evaluated.

Successors to ownership in engineering firms should be considerd if continued existence of the company is contemplated. Present owners should assume the responsibility of identifying and training staff members who are eyed as possible successors. A transition program for the business successor is provided for an orderly transfer of management
