Implementation issues in project Web sites: a practitioner's viewpoint

Article Abstract:

Implementation issues in project Web sites are discussed from the perspective of a practitioner. Implementation and sociological issues associated with such sites must be dealt with before they are really successful communication tools according to a faculty member of the civil engineering department, University of Florida at Gainesville, and former vice president, marketing and product development, Collaborative Structures. Ten recommendations are given, among them not imposing a site on a project already in progress, defining uses, enforce use for specified purposes only, mapping the information flow on the project.

Assesing the potential of E-mail for engineers: case study. E-mail(electronic mail)

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to observe the possible effects of electronic mail systems (e-mail) on the working environment of engineers. Possible problems which could be encountered with the use of the new system were taken into consideration. Existing communication systems which are candidates for replacement by e-mail were identified. The suggestions of engineers who participated in the study were considered for the design of the new system.
