The process approach to QMS in ISO 9001 and ISO 9004

Article Abstract:

Issues concerning the use of the process approach to quality management systems (QMSs) are discussed. It is vital to identify the processes required for the QMS and their sequences and interactions. The next stage is to create management responsibilities and accountabilities for carrying out these processes.

ISO 9000: 2000: A shift in focus

Article Abstract:

The ISO 9000 series of quality management system standards is to be updated to ISO 9000:2000 following implementation of Committee Draft 2. Changes are expected to be made in statistical techniques and measurement, requiring the usage of appropriate techniques in product realisation and processes; customer satisfaction, with measurement of customer satisfaction as a requirement; and continual improvement.
