Quality plays plantwide role

Article Abstract:

A survey shows the growing practice of quality control procedures in today's manufacturing plants. Moreover, quality practices are not limited to laboratories or inspection departments but are distributed across several key points in manufacturing processes and handled by several departments all at once. The results also indicate much improvement in quality practices since 1990, when quality control procedures in manufacturing plants were last surveyed.

Bright ideas enhance plant-floor quality: manufacturers who needquality data now, not later, tell how they get it

Article Abstract:

Leading manufacturers are realizing the benefits of using innovative analysis systems, ranging from lasers and cameras to electronic gages, which help in obtaining data rapidly to remedy out-of-tolerance conditions or determine possible quality problem. Infrared video inspection, for instance, aids manufacturers in keeping close tabs on glass molding, pressing, and cooling operations for small automotive bulbs.

Shake failure out of your products

Article Abstract:

Environmental stress screening (ESS) assures that products reach customers without any defect, when conducted on 100% of the products. More than a preventive measure against impending product failure, ESS guarantees zero downtime from the date of purchase. However the vibration test must be carried out very carefully and manufacturers should make sure that the required temperature when conducting ESS is met.
