Article Abstract:

Some suppliers and manufacturers have embarked on partner programs to enhance supplier performance. For instance, Johnson Controls Inc. implemented a supplier program in 1985 called 'Partners for Total Quality.' Under such program, suppliers' performance are evaluated on the bases of quality, delivery and leadtime. The success of this type of program depends on the commitment of both the supplier and manufacturer, their effort to make it succeed and the nature of their relationship.
