Perfection Products Inc. has been preparing for an ISO 9000 pre-assessment audit by registrar SGS International Certification Services in Sep. 1996. Proper job instructions and other segments of the quality system are being set up by company managers to meet ISO 9000 guidelines. Task areas that need to be worked on before the pre-assessment include quality system, document control, quality records, calibration and process control.

Workers begin to see the light

Article Abstract:

Managers from Perfection Products Inc. are working with consultancy firm Pleiades International on ISO-element action items in preparation for final ISO 9000 pre-assessment audit. The final on-site audit is scheduled for Oct. 24-25, 1996. Perfection Products has a new contract with registrar SGS International Certification Services Inc.. SGS is expected to do a 'bench audit' of Perfection's documents prior to the pre-assessment.

Perfection hits a speedbump

Perfection Products Inc. faced several obstacles in its bid for ISO 9001 certification. The certification process caused significant production disruptions and necessitated changes and even layoffs in personnel, while the failure to train inspectors led to complaints from irate customers. However, the process also helped in the identification of crucial production and capacity handling problems.
