Servo motors lead the drive for improvement

Article Abstract:

The UK's main event for electric motor and control equipment manufacturers will be held in the Telford Exhibition Centre between March 10-12, 1998. Among the exhibitors will be Eurotherm Drives, which will show its 801 Series 400V three-phase, low power inverters, aimed at Europe's inverter sector, which is worth around 660 million pounds sterling. Another exhibitor is Variohm Components, which is offering a number of devices, including cable extension modules.

Fast water motors cut more precisely: extreme precision and constant power output over an extremely wide speed range characterise a new range of spindle motors

Article Abstract:

GEC Alsthom Parvex has developed a new range of spindle motors with a constant power output of up to 30,000 rpm. When in use, the LW range of synchronous spindle motors experiences a temperature rise of just 15 deg C., and is water cooled. Such cold running means that the motors are more reliable and axial extensions are kept to a minimum.

Short stroke servo positions precisely

Article Abstract:

Custom Development of Kew, England, has developed a new linear motor actuator, which is accurate and powerful. The actuator is 29 mm long. It provides a force of 12N and is accurate to one part in 4,096. It could be used to motorise X-Y stages in micro-robotic and microscopy manufacture.
