Speed reducer eliminates sliding friction

Article Abstract:

Hyatt TSC Reducers offers the TRANSCYKO speed reducer. The unit uses a cycloidal design, which has an advantage over conventional gear tooth configurations in that it allows many teeth to share the load. The device's cycloidal teeth transmit torque by rolling from one element to another, with no sliding friction, thereby creating vibration-free operation. The company claims that the TRANSCYKO speed reducer has efficiencies over 90% in single0stage reduction units and over 80% in double-stage devices.
