Stirling effort keeps its cool while on the move

Article Abstract:

Materials technologies, partly derived from NASA programs, are providing the means to make very lightweight carrying containers for air cargo and human transport of pharmaceuticals, vaccines and food. The Thales Stirling Cryocooler from Asymptote makes thermal insulation lightweight, flexible and durable all at the same time in order to improve portability of things that need to be kept hot or cold.

Low cost CAD designed for PLM

Solid Edge version 15 has developed a low cost CAD to ease product lifestyle management (PLM) for enterprise wide collaborative working. This three-dimensional surface model, can be run in the stand-alone mode on Windows 2000 or on the Windows 2003 server with Windows SharePoint Services, and is configured to produce drawings and models that can be published on the Internet.

Flat motors put vehicle design in a spin

A Russian inventor has designed a flat multi-poled type motor, optimized for high torque and is smoother and more energy efficient than conventional systems. The product is aimed at the Chinese market where a whole lot of electric cycles ply on the roads but the manufacturers also plan to market do-it-yourself kits to convert any bicycle to a motorized cycle.
