Superconductor maker in political crosshairs: congressional inquiry could jeopardize bold New York City grid project

Article Abstract:

The American Superconductor Corp. is under investigation by the office of representative John Dingell for their no-bid contract to develop and test the Secure Super Grids in New York City. A major part of the project involves designing a fault-current limiter system which would dampen massive current surges from grid-scale short circuits.

A compilation of patent awards and patent impact divided by industry type is presented. The Patent R eform Act of 2007 seeks to establish a procedure for challenging patents after its issuance thereby preventing "trolls" or companies wh o acquire patents and sit on them hoping that these would have a crucial business application.
