Taking the big step into small claims

Article Abstract:

At some stage in their business life, electrical contractors in the UK may have to resort to the small claims court to recover debts that clients have refused to pay. The type of court to use depends on the amount of the claim. For sums up to 1,000 pounds sterling the Small Claims procedure should be used. Claims of 1,000 pounds sterling to 50,000 pounds sterling should be pursued through the County Court, while other claims should go through the High Court. The procedure to be followed for pursuing a claim through the Small Claims Court is presented.
