Texas Instruments' and Iowa State University's experience with the university challenge program

Article Abstract:

Success achieved by Texas Instruments (TI) in total quality management (TQM) has attracted Iowa State University (ISU) to collaborate with it on TQM. This partnership between university and industry is based on shared commitment to learn, to teach and practice TQM. TI's reason to support ISU is to reduce training and development costs and productivity delays. The Total Quality Forum coordinating the University Challenge Program is successful but faces many challenges.

Steering committee offers recommendations

Article Abstract:

The Total Quality Leadership Steering Committee has disclosed that although total quality research is being done internationally, it is still inadequate in disseminating the principles and the techniques of total quality management (TQM). The committee favors the establishment of funding pools for current TQM studies and the granting of awards and research fellowships. The evident link between higher education and TQM has also been underscored by the committee.
