The criteria: a looking glass to Americans' understanding of quality

Article Abstract:

The Strategic Planning Category of the Malcolm Baldrige National Award has evolved in scope from planning for quality and operational improvements to developing an all-inclusive business strategy. Strategic planning has been regrouped with Categories 1 and 3 which revolve around Leadership and Customer Market Focus, respectively. Such a move emphasizes that strategic planning is likewise driven by changing needs and requirements of the market and is also, essentially, a leadership activity.

Downloading quality software from the Web

Commercial Web sites that offer downloadable quality software are At-Sigma SPC, Hertzler Systems, Innovation Implementor, MultiSimplex which could be accessed at http://www.multisimplex.se/product.htm., and Quality Workbench which facilitates daily control over quality systems for ISO 9000. The latter can be reached at http://www.pqsystems.con. Other Cyberquality sites include Bill Scherkenbach's and the new Deming Cooperative.

A new twist to a quality classic

Article Abstract:

Business organizations can develop effective systems for measuring consumer satisfaction with their products and services by using the World Wide Web. Motorola's customer response system on the Web helps it to determine why certain products are returned and, consequently, to measure customer satisfaction. It uses the information generated to identify and correct problems as part of its continuous improvement process.
