The development of a method for determining the efficiency and effectiveness of installed CAPM systems

Article Abstract:

A study designed, developed and tested a Delphi technique-based audit methodology to evaluate the efficacy and efficiency of an installed computer aided production management (CAPM) system in terms of policies, management support, transactions processing and database. The CAPM system's impact on the user's competitiveness was the measure employed to determine CAPM system efficiency and effectiveness. The audit methodology developed was tested in a series of trial runs. Findings indicated that the proposed audit approach is satisfactory.

The marking for bucking under uncertainty in automatic harvesting of forests

Article Abstract:

A model is developed for the marking for bucking problem in the harvesting of forests. The problem involves converting a single tree stem into logs wherein the total stem value, which is the sum of single log prices, is maximized. The model calculates the unknown portion of the stem while a predictor is used in marking for bucking. It is shown that the model improves the efficiency of harvesting.
