Alkylated carborane anions and radicals

Article Abstract:

Alkylated carborane ions are novel weakly nucleophilic anions which can form salts that are strongly oxidizing, stable radicals and conduct electricity in nonpolar solvents. Preparation, structure, and properties of model carborane anions and radicals are discussed.
