The experimentation process

Article Abstract:

Experiments in manufacturing and engineering groups often fail because of nontechnical issues involving management, communication, reliability of measuring devices and cooperation. Experiments should be conducted by teams that work together with a singular purpose. In designing experiments successfully, a team should begin by writing a mission statement, develop a common understanding of the system, brainstorm factors and levels, generate design and data sheets, conductthe experiment and analyze results, and conduct follow-up experiments and implement solutions.

Total quality management in the public sector: the nuts and bolts of a TQM effort

Article Abstract:

Every member of an organization should have a role to play in the implementation of total quality management (TQM) programs. Very often middle managers have been excluded from specific roles in the process. Key issues in TQM are new product and service planning, innovation in current services, continuous service process improvement and daily service process control. Goals for each of the key issues should be set and managers should incorporate them in their planning.
