Tracing Europe's fracture line between east and west

Article Abstract:

There is a strong western influence emerging in the towns and cities of the former Czechoslovakia, with companies such as McDonald's and Marks and Spencer now establishing a presence in the region. However, there are still many towns of great architectural heritage. These include the southern Bohemian town of Cesky Krumlov, which has been designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. There is a strong sense of east and west, north and south, coming together in the region.

The Corporate Plan: what members think

Article Abstract:

The Royal Town Planning Institute's (RTPI's) five-year Corporate Plan for 1996 to 2000 was considered acceptable to branches and individuals who provided feedback. The plan's five major goals were criticised, however, because they have no milestones from which to measure progress. The RTPI's Council will endeavour to work with members to reshape the plan where necessary. Branches are invited to offer input to the Council at any time.
