Transmission plant is winner with empowerment

Article Abstract:

Supervisor Frank Wilson was able to dramatically improve efficiency and reduce costs at the Ford Livonia Transmission Plant in Livonia, MI through employee empowerment. After three years of his new system, which included weekly staff meetings on safety, quality, and expenditures, the layout and gauge plant significantly improved. Mr. Wilson believes that the improvement of communication among suppliers, management, and employees should be given credit.

Force and travel tests made easy

Article Abstract:

Westbrook Manufacturing Inc designed a new force and travel test system that is free from operator error annd is easy to use. The system is versal test stand was used for both manual and motorized operation. An Ono Sokki gage was chosen to make linear meaurement and a Mark 10 BG series force gage links all three instruments. Collection and analysis of data is doneby a 386 PC and monitor system which is linked to the whole apparatus.

New optical technique nails flatness

In an effort to create flatter transmission components, Ford's Automatic Transmission Engineering Office and OG Technologies have developed a new optical measuring technology. The article discusses the mechanics of the liquid-absorption optical measuring system and the benefits it can provide.
