Tuning in to the sound of silence

Article Abstract:

Wladyslaw Wgynanski, owner of Cambridge Concept, has developed pneumatics-based technology that is able to cancel out the noise of jet engines in the air or on the ground. This technology has served to gain the company a place in an important European research project entitled 'Reduction of aircraft noise by Nacelle treatment and active control.' Research has reached the stage of making and testing a pilot scale anti-noise generator. This is powered by air from the compressor stage of a jet engine.

CAD is heading for the future

Article Abstract:

The continued development of computer-aided design (CAD) systems has enabled engineers to set up CAD networks which allow teamwork to take place between people working at different sites. The key success of a CAD network is to have all users working on the same operating system, preferably Windows NT. CAD is also being used to design products with virtual reality models, which can be accessed through networks and explored by different professions to ensure product quality.
