Tyre control gives tracked performance: by automatically controlling tyre pressures, it is possible to give wheeled vehicles adhesion and ground support similar to tracked vehicles

Article Abstract:

A new system has been developed to automatically inflate and deflate tyres enabling wheeled vehicles to negotiate both hard and soft ground. The system can be installed by any workshop and the air link between chassis and wheel can be removed easily with Central Tyre Inflation (CTI) is not required. The basic architecture comprises two dry running compressors with output going through copper tubes to act as coolers. The air is then passed to a small wet tank and onto a larger dry tank, and goes through the valve into the manifold. Main applications would be in the military market but it could be used for recreational use and in construction equipment in the future.

Open windows give easy access

Article Abstract:

Computer-aided design (CAD) developers are using Microsoft's Windows software more and more at the expense of the Unix operating system. Windows includes OLE 2.0, which allows the two different OLE compliant CAD programs to be linked up, and for data to be taken from one and embedded in the other.
