Article Abstract:

Exterior lighting systems have made big advances in the last decade with new lamp and ballast technology, better design and controls. Exterior lighting categories include architectural site lighting that covers hospital parking lots, shopping center garages and campus walkways. The other areas of exterior lighting are facade lighting that include such aesthetics-enhancing techniques as silhouetting, shadowing and downlighting and security lighting that encompasses such ideas as safety and crime prevention.

Lighting retrofit blows into Windy city

Article Abstract:

Metal-halide lamps were used in meeting the exhibition lighting requirement of the expanded McCormick Place South building in Chicago, IL. The lighting systems, which are capable of producing accurate colors at ratings of about 15,000 hours, was specified by the major contractors for the project. Metal-halide lamps, more than 4,000 of which were installed in the facility, are high-intensity discharge electric arc lamps with low- intensity designs that are ideal for exhibit halls.

Surgeons bypass HIDD for CFL lighting

Article Abstract:

Sportslite has launched its SLL0275 and LX800 series high-bay compact- fluorescent lamps (CFLs) and fixtures. The luminaires are available in a variety of configurations such as the lay-in or canopy style for hospital use and high-bay styles with multiple CFLs for use in gymnasiums and warehouses. The luminaires offer instant-on capability and four-level step dimming, which can give 30% energt savings over traditional 400-watt high- intensity discharge fixtures.
