A data mining approach to simulating farmers' crop choices for integrated water resource management

Article Abstract:

The data mining approach is explained which can be used to simulate social, economic and biophysical constraints on the farmers' decision rules, specific to northern Thailand, as a part of an integrated water management model. In this approach farmers decisions were able to be classified on the basis of four variable, namely land unit, estimated cost of production, land-labor ration and the estimated profit level, and it shows that this approach can provide a robust, accurate and simple method of simulating land use decision.

Computer software tool REALM for sustainable water allocation and management

Article Abstract:

The main features of Resource Allocation Model (REALM), a generalized computer simulation package used for harvesting and bulk distribution of water resources is studied. It is revealed that REALM simulation is flexible in using a wide range of data inputs that represent potential hydrological scenarios and it is an essential tool for water allocation planning.
