A systems approach to assess farm-scale nutrient and trace element dynamics: A case study at the Ojebyn dairy farm

Article Abstract:

A system analysis approach at the Ojebyn dairy farm in northern Sweden was used to access farm-scale nutrient and trace element sustainability by combining full-scale field experiments with specific studies of nutrient release from mineral weathering and trace-element cycling. It was found that internal element flows on the farm are large and that there are farm internal sources zinc (Zn) and loss terms such as potassium (K).

Modeling recovery of Swedish ecosystems from acidification

Article Abstract:

Dynamic acidification model MAGIC was applied, to133 lakes unaffected by agriculture and SAFE, to 645 productive forest sites. The acidification trend was found to be reversed with recovery reported at many sites. The implementation of the current legislation plan will be responsible for preventing threat of further damage from acid deposition to forest soils and lakes.
