A water resources planning response to climate change in the Senegal river basin

Article Abstract:

A viable alternative water resources development policy incorporates proven and culturally acceptable village-scale irrigation development. The policy has been drafted in response to climatic changes in the Senegal river basin in Africa. Water resources need to be utilized optimally, and innovative irrigated agro-forestry projects, that emphasize the re-integration of the urban population into the countryside and increasing the biomass production, need to be implemented.

Carbon in the vegetation and soils of Great Britain

Article Abstract:

The first version of soil carbon database of Great Britain was developed by the Institute of Terrestrial Ecology, the Macaulay Land Research Institute and the Soil Survey and Land Research Centre to monitor the size and distribution of carbon dioxide from natural pools. Vegetation and soil groups was found to contain 114Mtonnes and 9938Mt of carbon, respectively. The increase of the pool size and rates of stored carbon change was the new challenge.
