Costs and genetic benefits of various sizes of predator populations in Sweden- a comment

Article Abstract:

Estimating the cost of predator population sizes in Sweden on the basis of Boman's regression analysis method is implausible since it fails to account for the damage caused by surplus killing. Also, the method fails to consider predators from Norway and Finland may causes some of the damage observed in Sweden. Alternative estimations of the maximum annual reindeer meat consumption by these predators yield a cost above the total value of the Swedish reindeer meat production.
