Assessment of damage to fish populations in Norwegian Lakes due to acidification

Article Abstract:

Researchers in this study assessed the status of fish populations in Norwegian lakes in relations to the impact of acidification. This research found that brown trout, the most common species of fish in these waters, suffered the most severe damage. The most serious damage was seen in fish populations of southernmost Norway.

Critical load exceedance and damage to fish populations

Article Abstract:

Research of arctic char, perch, and brown trout populations in 1000 Norwegian lakes has shown damage due to exceeding critical loads. At critical load, probability for damaging populations is approximately 20%.
