Creating a new atmosphere

Article Abstract:

Greenpeace is dedicated to change the perceptions and attitudes of people concerning ozone layer depletion. Changes in attitude are necessary in that the rewards from immediate action in the prevention of ozone layer depletion will not be apparent for many years. But immediate action is necessary since the ramifications of not acting are health problems, food scarcity and psychological trauma. An informed, well-organized and outraged citizenry will do much to aid in such actions.

Don't bank on Rio

Article Abstract:

The UN Conference on Environment and Development to be held in Rio de Janeiro may be a greenwash. A greenwash is an activity to ostensibly promoteenvironmentalism but in reality to do nothing at all about the situation. Worldleaders in the Earth Summit ignore crucial environmental issues and actually place the World Bank in a position to harm the environmental movement since many of the World Bank's policies run counter to environmentalism.

Ozone

Article Abstract:

The environmental group Greenpeace is campaigning to ban all production use and incineration of ozone-destroying chemicals. NASA has already found some areas in the South Pole that were virtually zone-less and in some extended areas with ozone, there were 80% depletion. A 40-50% depletion of ozone over Canada and US may happen, according to NASA after conducting the Feb 1992 Arctic study.
