Dynamic impacts of feral mink predation on vole metapopulations in the outer archipelago of the Baltic Sea

Article Abstract:

The factors determining the distribution and abundance of vole metapopulations preyed upon by feral American mink Mustela vison in the outer Finnish archipelago of the Black Sea are examined. The study concludes that the indirect impact of mink could lead to gradual erosion of vole populations by reducing recolonisation processes in the outer archipelago.

Effects of predation and habitat structure on the population dynamics of house mice in large outdoor enclosures

Article Abstract:

The effect of different levels of protection from predation on feral house mice is examined. Mice were not protected from predation when compared with low grassland pens, possibly because predators were able to focus their hunting activity in the strips.

Delayed numerical response of goshawks to population fluctuations of forest grouse

Article Abstract:

Numerical response of goshawks Accipiter gentilis to varying densities of their main prey in western Finland during 1979-1996 is studied. It is shown that goshawk predation on grouse is inversely dependent on grouse density.
