Highlands in East Africa: unstable slopes, unstable environments?

Article Abstract:

Research indicates that land degradation in East Africa caused by geomorphic mass movement is transitory. It is posited that while mass movement is the region's most frequent cause of landslide scars, recovery of the scars is rapid, with topsoil chemistry returning in as little as 10 years.

African land ecology: opportunities and constraints for agricultural development

The agricultural development in Africa has been poor over the last four decades as the green revolution was not effective. A comparison was undertaken between Africa and Asia to analyze the adaptation of current land use to environmental conditions in Africa.
