Effects of inorganic nutrients on the regrowth of heterotrophic bacteria in drinking water distribution systems

Article Abstract:

The effects of adding three inorganic nutrients (ammonium, nitrate or phosphate) on biofilm formation in water pipes are studied by setting up three laboratory-scale water pipe systems. The results revealed that the effects of adding ammonia or nitrate on the biofilm formation were insignificant when levels below 0.1 mg N/1 were added.

Equilibrium and kinetic studies on biosorption of Hg (II), Cd (II) and Pb (II) ions onto microalgae Chlamydomonas Reinhardt

Article Abstract:

Biosorption of Hg (II), Cd (II) and Pb (II) ions is studied by using microalgae Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. The results indicate that biomass of C. Reinhardtii is suitable for the development of an efficient metal removal system for the removal and recovery of Hg (II), Cd (II) and Pb (II) from aqueous media.

Removal of direct red 12B and methylene blue from water by adsorption onto Fe (III)/Cr (III) hydroxide, an industrial solid waste

Article Abstract:

Removal of direct red 12B and methylene blue by adsorption onto Fe (III)/Cr (III) hydroxide by using various parameters like agitation time, dye concentration, adsorption dose and pH is studied. Desorption studies revealed that chemisorption is observed to be the major mode of adsorption.
