Environmental fate of chemicals in soil

Article Abstract:

Studies that test the environmental fate of chemicals in soil need to include the impact of different scales in soil structure. Studies should also analyze the processes for chemicals that are not in equilibrium with the water and solid components of soils. Soil structure scales measure particles such as atoms, molecules, clay particles, sand and rocks. They also measure micropores, mesopores and macropores to determine the interaction of air and water with soil.

Soil climate and decomposer activity in sub-Saharan Africa estimated from standard weather station data: a simple climate index for soil carbon balance calculations

Article Abstract:

A method is described for converting daily weather station data from African weather stations to an annual climate factor, which has summarized the soil climate and its influence on soil biological activity in one variable. This method is used on weather data sets from West and Central Africa and Kenya and a map is presented that shows various results from different climate zones.
