Geographical variation in the potential of mice to constrain an ant-seed dispersal mutualism

Article Abstract:

The pre and post-dispersal Helleborus foetidus (Ranunculaceae) seed predation by mice Apodemus sylvaticus as well as post-dispersal seed removal by ants is studied. Results reflect that the promotion of a mosaic of well-matching and mismatching situations between H. foetidus diaspore traits can be attributed to the geographic variation of mice seed predation over the Iberian Peninsula.

Does maternal condition or predation risk influence small mammal population dynamics?

Article Abstract:

The roles of maternal effects and predation risk in the population dynamics of wild strain house mice using a 2-factor enclosure experiment is tested. Results question the role of either factor in causing long-term responses that influence condition to affect population processes.

Foraging of multimammate mice, Mastomys natalensis, under different predation pressure: cover, patch-dependent decisions and density-dependent GUDs

Article Abstract:

The patch use of Mastomys natalensis under different conditions of avian predation pressure is investigated. Results indicate a strong relation between rodent density and giving-up density (GUD).
