Keeping up can't be put off

Article Abstract:

Well-maintained roads should help to sustain economic development, especially in rural areas. However, a 1987 World bank report revealed that $90 billion would be required to repair deteriorated roads in 85 developing countries whose road construction were funded by the bank. Road repairs will be enhanced if donors are willing to fund maintenance along with construction. For that matter, labor-based maintenance strategies should prove to be the most sensible method to maintain roads.

The road to nowhere...

Article Abstract:

Roads in the rural areas of Russia are in a state of disrepair. In some case, the road is a mudpath accessible only to pedestrians. In addition, the roads are also littered with machine and vehicle parts which have been abandoned because of the lack of spare parts. In some case, mangled machine parts manifest the boredom pervading among the villagers. The Russian landscape remains simple and rustic, largely because of a lack of funds finance development and infrastructure projects.

Deer and road traffic accidents: options for management

Article Abstract:

An analysis of deer and roadside management in Europe was presented. Several approaches to manage deer on roads were proposed. Increasing drivers deer awareness by employing deer warning signs and reducing deer crossing activity or changing the pattern of crossing through fences, reflectors or chemical repellants were the options presented for deer management. A combination of these approaches was suggested for a more efficient management.
