Losing our skin: the Earth's vanishing ozone layer

Article Abstract:

The ozone layer depletion has reached massive proportions because of the release of chlorine and Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) in the atmosphere. Research indicates that the rate of ozone depletion will increases before the ozone layer can replenish itself. This has ecological and health ramifications in that habitats of various species will be changed and they will not adapt rapidly enough to survive. There will be increased health problems in animals and in man. Greenpeace is working for the cessation of production of CFCs.

Who's behind the attack on recycling?

Article Abstract:

Recycling program, a multi-ethnic, multi-racial and multi-class and the most popular movement, is being widely criticized as a wasteful activity. Recycling processes are labor intensive as compared to disposal technologies which are capital-intensive. Consequently, disposal technologies are being adopted by bankers and bond firms. Recycling is viewed as an add-on cost and as a result, expensive. Recycling programs are being criticized by the self interest of bonding and national hauling firms.
