Building green industry in the Bronx

The Bronx 2000 recycling program, a for-profit subsidiary, was designed to help with inner city economic growth and jobs. Its buy-back program has helped citizens who recycle materials. Now Recoverable Resources is pursuing contracts with industries that want to buy recycled plastic materials.

Trimming corporate welfare with green scissors

The government's plan to cut spending on environmentally harmful projects will benefit both the environment and taxpayers. 'The Green Scissors Report' suggests savings of $33 billion from these spending cuts. Subsidies for building roads in national forests are among the targeted programs.

Stopping corporate secrecy

Article Abstract:

There is a campaign underway to have legislation passed that would enable companies to conceal environmental management information. Several states already have passed such public-access-limiting laws, and there is an attempt at federal legislation. Public action options are discussed.
