Nutrient enrichment weakens the stabilizing effect of species richness

Article Abstract:

Species richness and nutrients in outdoor aquatic microcosms composed of naturally occurring assemblages of zooplankton and benthic invertebrates was manipulated to determine how the relationship between species richness and variability changes under different nutrient conditions. It was found that enrichment decoupled the stabilizing effect of species richness on community and population variability and that more complete resource-use in more diverse communities may dampen population fluctuations.

Does ecological filtering across a productivity gradient explain variation in species pool-richness relationships?

Article Abstract:

The relative importance of species pools and local interactions are tested on species diversity across a productivity gradient in a success ional old-field along with the potential implications of species pool size to observed productivity-diversity relationships. The augmentation of the species pool shifted the productivity-diversity relationship from a negative linear to unmoral indicating that species pools might affect the reported productivity-diversity patterns.

Dominant species identity regulates invasibility of old-field plant communities

Article Abstract:

The effect of the dominant species is studied on community dynamics, as they identify and regulate the abundance affected invasibility of old-field plant communities. The analysis shows that even though the dominant species is not a significant predictor of invasion, they play a very important role in determining the invasibility of the plant communities.
