Viewpoint: women, population and the environment

Article Abstract:

Over-population in developing countries is directly tied to environmental issues. Women need to be allowed a more active role in population policies and environmental regulation because it is women who deal directly with these issues. Informing women in developing countries of why policies are made is a first step.

Women in developing countries are becoming increasingly involved in environmental activism. Western activists have often pictured women as special victims of environmental problems but their activism also stems from their close relationship to life and the land.
