Nutrient contribution of leaf litter in urban stormwater
Article Abstract:
Nutrient contribution from leaf wastes in city waterways was studied by analyzing data from a gross pollutant monitoring program in a 50 ha catchment in an inner-city suburb of Melbourne, Australia. Data showed that the possible nutrient contribution is approximately two fold smaller in magnitude compared to the usual nutrient loads in city stormwater. Thus, the elimination of leaf litter from city waterways will have very little effect in decreasing the total stormwater nutrient load.

Effective dimensionality of environmental indicators: a principal component analysis with bootstrap confidence intervals
Article Abstract:
Data on 14 selected environmental indicators that include air, water, land and biodiversity from 33 countries are analyzed by using a principal component analysis (PCA) with bootstrap confidence intervals. The purpose is to determine the interrelationships and effective dimensionality of the data and evaluate their application in designing environmental indices. The bootstrap method was incorporated to compensate for the deficiency of the PCA. The results of the study are discussed.

Azadirachta indica leaf powder as an effective biosorbent for dyes: a case study with aqueous Congo Red solutions
Article Abstract:
The leaves of Azadirachta indica in the form of a powder are investigated as a biosorbent of dyes taking aqueous Congo Red solution as a model system. The results showed the effectiveness of the Neem leaf powder as a biosorbent for removing dyes like Congo Red from water.
