Oceans

Article Abstract:

The environmental organization Greenpeace campaigns for the promotion and implementation of ecologically-sound fisheries management and the endorsement of the Antarctic Whale Sanctuary. The group also calls for an imposition of a moratorium on commercial whaling in the International Whaling Commission and implement strict laws on fishing to protect the ocean's ecosystem. The ocean, considered the world's largest ecosystem, is already overfished as reports from the US National Marine Fisheries Service show that around 1/3 of US fish stock are overfished.
