Playing with fire: Greenpeace testing finds that some popular toys may place children at risk

Article Abstract:

Greenpeace has found the toxic chemical DINP (diisononyl phthalate) to be present in some popular vinyl products that had the 'non-toxic' label on them. Phthalates, the class of compounds to which DINP belong, can leach out into children's mouth when children put soft vinyl toys into their mouths. In response to this finding, Greenpeace has called on the Consumer Product Safety Commission to ban all vinyl products and toys.
