Pollen limitation and demographic structure in small fragmented populations of Brunsvigia radulosa (amaryllidaceae)

Article Abstract:

The study examines the relative effects of habitat fragmentation, population size and population isolation on the reproductive biology of Brunsvigia radulosa (Amaryllidaceae). The species was found to be self-incompatible and adapted for pollination primarily by the long-proboscid fly philoliche aethiopica (Tabanidae).

Influence of pulsed resources and marine subsidies on insular rodent populations

Article Abstract:

The distinct biogeographic distributions of rodents on Gulf islands are discussed. The effects of marine inputs and pulsed El Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO) resources on rodent populations on islands before, during and after the strong 1997-1998 El Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO) events are examined.

Marine subsidies alter the diet and abundance of insular and coastal lizard populations

Article Abstract:

The impact of marine materials on the diet and abundance of arthropodivorous lizards inhabiting islands and the coast of the Gulf of California is evaluated. Marine materials are brought onto land by seabirds and by tidal action, and both subsidy pathways cause arthropod abundance to increase.
