Testing life history predictions in a long-lived seabird: a population matrix approach with improved parameter estimation

Article Abstract:

Life-history predictions in a population of red-tailed tropicbirds (Phaethon rubricauda) are tested using improved methodologies. Comparative data-sets on other seabirds, within and among orders, and in other locations, are needed to understand the environmental effects (El Nino events).

Estimation by capture-recapture of recruitment and dispersal over several sites

Article Abstract:

The recruitment and dispersal in the roseate tern Sterna dugallii are analyzed. A class of age-dependent multistate capture-recapture models is presented for the simultaneous estimation of natal dispersal, breeding dispersal and age-dependent recruitment.

What does the Resource Dispersion Hypothesis explain, if anything?

Article Abstract:

The potential of Resource Dispersion Hypothesis(RDH) for explaining the sociality of Eurasian badgers is examined. The empirical evidences conflicting the assumptions and predictions of Resource Dispersion Hypothesis(RDH) are discussed.
